Sony Ericsson introduced its new clamshell mobile phone as was previously rumored – Jalou. Stylish new Sony Ericsson length of 73 mm is designed mostly for the female buyers. Sony Ericsson Jalou’s 2 inch display designed in such a way that when you press the special button, it turns into a mirror, and this somehow “useful” function must be appreciated by the beautiful side of our nature. Budgeter app lets helps you save some coin

Anyone who has ever shopped around for insurance knows that the project is far from fun. The same can be said about sitting down to tweak your monthly budget, rarely does good news come from these two tasks. A new app for the iPhone called Budgeter has turned up on the app store that is designed to help you save some green each month. The app has calculators that can help you calculate expenses and track where your money goes. I know I once sat down and went over my budget and found that I spent over $1000 each month eating out. Other features of the application include a hidden expense calculator, monthly cash flow calculator, and a net worth calculator. The iPhone app is free to download.

PGA Championship ‘09 App for iPhone

The US Open and The Masters each have their own iPhone apps (both are free). The PGA does have an iPhone app, and it’s called PGA Championship 09 (appropriately enough). This official app is the first of its kind to make use of push notifications. You can use it to receive real-time alerts for 5 of your favorite players… Get notified when they begin their round, end their round, score a double bogey or worse, a birdie or eagle, and what happens at the conclusion of each hole. Alerts are easy to manage, turn on/off, or change. You can also setup a custom leaderboard, view current news, round recaps, daily tee times, scorecards, and a heck of a lot more. If you want to get right into the PGA Championship over this breezy Minnesotan weekend, you may want to pick this one up. The only downer is this is a paid app. At $1.99, this is also the first golf major app to require payment. Both the US Open and Masters apps are free… I’m curious to know how this one fares in comparison to the others. You can pick up PGA Championship 2009 in the App Store for $1.99 (iTunes link).

Wolfenstein RPG is in da AppStore

Legendary Wolfenstein is in da AppStore, coming only a day after the other legendary game – Duke Nukem 3D. You know the story right? It’s simple – go through the halls and kill all Nazis, zombies and skeletons that cross your way. You have an array of weapons to use — including rocket launcher, a flamethrower, sniper rifle, and a telsa gun. If all that fails — or you’re out of ammunition — you can always use your fists and boots. Two mini-games are also included – Kick the Chicken and War… EA Mobile is the publisher of the game, and you can grab it for 5 bucks ($4.99) from this page. Finally, it’s important to add that there’s also the original Wolfenstein 3D game in the AppStore. The version EA released is improved and comes with a much better graphics.

Pandora App Update : v1.1.1 Available

The Pandora App for BlackBerry has been updated to version 1.1.1. The update carries with it several network connection fixes, including the HTTP 502 error many users have been experiencing. Here are some additional notes from the ChangeLog :

* Fixed HTTP 502 issue (and other networking-related issues such as the “connection closed” problem on the 8350i)
* Fixed volume going to “full” after an audio system alert (phone, email, IM) on Storm
* For listeners who use the low end of the volume scale, the jump from 3 bars to 4 bars isn’t as jarring anymore

There remains several features we would like to see added to the mobile client, that are available in the Web App (i.e. Add Artist or Song to Station), but the updates are welcome none the less.
Pandora users should receive a prompt the when starting the app, if not you can get the newest version by visiting Pandora.com from your BlackBerry browser.

Nokia Ovi Mail reaches one million members

Nokia has announced its mobile email service, Ovi Mail, has reached the million subscriber mark, boosted by strong take up in the developing world. The Finnish mobile phone giant said the service, which was launched in December last year, was originally inspired by the growing number of people who don't have access to a PC. Tom Furlong, head of consumer messaging at Nokia, said: "More than just reaching a company milestone, this proves to us that there is a real appetite in the developing world for these types of tailored services. "For first-time email users, Ovi Mail provides a digital identity and we are thrilled by its rapidly rising adoption rate." Part of its success will also be down to its no-cost, easy out-of-the-box set up, and its support for numerous handsets including the 2330 classic, 2630 and 5310. Mobile email was first popularised by 's BlackBerry devices, and the latest subscriber figures from RIM of more than 28 million show the likes of Nokia still have some way to go to catch up.

Palm prepping Pre with North American GSM

Palm seems to be making an active, conscientious effort to say as little as it can about the GSM version of the Pre, possibly in an effort to give Sprint as much spotlight as possible before its exclusivity expires -- but as we all know, it's real and it's coming. Thing is, Palm has always implied that it's being limited to European duty with a 3G radio that fails to cover bands that are of any interest to North Americans, so what the heck is this noise all about? Multiple certification bodies are now reporting the existence of a Pre model number P100UNA, as opposed to the P100UEU that's launching in Europe -- and it doesn't take a lot of detective work to gather that those codes on the end stand for "North America" and "European Union," respectively (for the record, the CDMA version on Sprint is P100EWW, so it ain't that). One distinct possibility is that Palm's preparing a version to cover Bell's new HSPA network since the carrier is Palm's exclusive Pre launch partner in Canada and they're smack in the middle of a transition from CDMA -- and needless to say, if that's the case, there'll be an unprecedented effort to get that sucker unlocked on the double.

Samsung T659 Scarlet coming to T-Mobile USA

Samsung's upcoming T659 Scarlet will be making its debut Stateside thanks to T-Mobile, where it crams in 3G and Bluetooth connectivity, email and IM support, and a 2-megapixel camera with video recording capabily. Availalbe to the masses from September 2 onwards, we still have no idea on pricing but don't expect this to be insanely tagged as there really isn't anything outstanding about this handset to command a premium.
